Instagram Story with basic Character Rigging

When a modeler finishes building a character, it’s a static 3D mesh, almost like a sculpture. Before a 3D character model can be animated, it must be bound to a system of joints and control handles, so that the animators can pose the model and bring it to live. Doing so, is what we call “rigging”.

Character rigging is a very tedious process. It requires creativity, precision, and an eye for detail.
A character rig can range from simple and elegant to staggeringly complex. I started with a basic walkcycle, followed with a jump, and added more pose variations. Follow me on Instagram for more audio-visual exercises.
